Yokohama (横浜)

Yokohama. You can call it my favourite place in Eastern Japan. Its compact, vibrant and very close to Tokyo. It takes less than 30 minutes by several local trains so there is no need to use the Shinkansen “Bullet Train”. If you have a JR Pass or one of JR East Regional or Day Pass, then it is a free ride.

There is a beautiful waterfront with my interesting places to visit including the Cup Ramen Museum, The Red Brick Building Warehouse, The Osanbashi Pier to name a few. Further down is the largest Chinatown in Japan and some interesting observation decks. It is an easily walkable and it is easy to spend one or two here. I have visited many times and my last time in 2022 was to see the Gundam exhibit (extended till Mar 2024) and the tallest observation deck in the area near Sakuragicho Station.

If you decide to stay in Yokohama, places like Enoshima Island and Kamakura is a shorter trip instead of a long day trip from Tokyo. I will cover those places when I talk about those places in the future. I will also cover some of the places that I visited in the past when I get to them.
