Japan has many bridges and many people will instantly recognize the ‘Rainbow Bridge’ due to the way it is lit up at night. Here are some other bridges from around Japan that are equally as interesting.

Miyakojima

Ikema Bridge

Connecting Miyakojima to Ikema Island is a 1,425 metre long bridge opened in 1992.

 

Irabu Bridge

Built in 2015, the bridge is 3,540 metre long, connecting Irabu Island to the Miyakojima mainland.

 

Kurima Bridge

Opened in 1995, Kurima Bridge is 1,690 metres and is the second main bridge connecting Miyakojima in the 1990s.

 

Tokyo

‘Rainbow’ Bridge

Built over 6 years and opened in 1993, ‘Rainbow Bridge’ is a 793 metre suspension bridge spanning the Tokyo Bay connecting the mainland to Odaiba. The bridge has two levels with the a dedicated portion underneath to service the Yurikamome automated monorail connecting Shimbashi to Toyosu through Odaiba.
