Miyakojima (宮古島)
Miyakojima belongs to the Okinawa Prefecture which is approximately 3.5 hours from Tokyo and 1 hour from Okinawa by air. My first trip was in December 2022 as I was drawn there by the beautiful scenery and the bridges. I would definitely recommend going in December as is is not busy as there did not appear to be many tourists. Public transportation is not reliable enough for the casual traveller and renting a car is recommended. Everything is reachable in less than an hour drive.
